Monday, June 24th will be held one of the most particular event that the ORC International World Championship will offer and it will be on board of trabaccolo. And now we reveal what we are talking about.
Trabaccolo is a typical boat of the Adriatic: a cargo with only one deck, two masts with a particular configuration named "al terzo". For sure you have see a lot of image regarding trabaccoli, since they were often featured in paintings by the end of '700 and '800 and several photographs of the first 900.
These vessels, between 8 and 150 tons, were increasingly used as transport boats and have contributed significantly to the construction of the city of Venice and the major coastal cities of the Adriatic.
To host the show on Monday 24th will be the New Triumph, the last lugger still sailing the North Adriatic Sea on the Italian side. Launched May 27th 1926 in Cattolica, was initially used to transport goods between the two shores of the Adriatic and then be allocated to the dredging of ports between Trieste and Monfalcone, carrying sand and gravel.
